Fictional American adventurer Indiana Jones was conceived by George Lucas who was inspired by the stars of film serials in the 1930s. Portrayed by the ruggedly handsome Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones has been the star of four feature films directed by Steven Spielberg: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). The movies were so successful that they inspired a spin-off television series called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which ran from 1992-1996.

Indiana Jones has become an iconic character for his dry sense of humor and memorable look, which includes a fedora, a leather jacket, and a bullwhip
