Julca was born in Ica, Peru in 1948. He received a rare opportunity to move from the small town to the capital city where he studied Art at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes where he graduated in 1974 with the highest honors. After school he joined the atelier of Rosa Vergara to develop the contacts he needed to succeed in painting. He has since exhibited regularly at some of the most prestigious galleries, including Galeria Van Gogh and Galeria Dos Olivos.
