Leon Zanella was born in Marseille in 1956 and has lived and worked in the beautiful 12th century town of Vaison La Romaine for 30 years. It's impossible to separate the artist from his region. His masterful simplicity never dims the splendor of his work. As a young artist, Zanella met Emmanuel David, the famous French art dealer who discovered Buffet and Carzou and who has since taken a great interest in Zanella's career. His visionary intensity for color celebrates the glorious region of Provence in a bold style reminiscent of the "fauvist movement". Zanella's paintings are collected throughout the world and several significant books have been published on his work.
