Lewis Silvers was born in New York City. In his youth he spent much of his time taking in the local culture. He often would visit the Art Museums and Galleries. When he began his formal art education he attended several schools including Bard College, The Art Students’ League Stanford and the Pacific Art League. Ultimately he earned an MA Degree in eliminatory and Art Education from New York University. Silvers most influential style of painting is from the post impressionist era. He was particularly fond of the Fauve movement and the turn of the century period. While Silvers’ influences are noticeable in his painting, his mastery of his own technique has helped to make him quite the notable contemporary artist.
