Sergey Chursanov was born on November 6, 1961 in the village of Gremjachie, Voronezh Region of the Soviet Union. Sergey spent his childhood exploring the banks of the Don River and hiking the countryside of his homeland. Sergey studied Aikito from the age of six and attained the rank of Sensei by the time he completed secondary school. He studied painting at Art College and later graduated from the Moscow Textile Design Institute. At the beginning of his career he painted Matroyshka Dolls and Lacquer Boxes. Aikito remains a big part of his life and Sergey has deep seated appreciation of nature that is articulated in his works.
