Zenobio Castaneda Casbal was born in Huancayo, Peru in 1956. He is the son of an engineer that worked at one of the mines in Central Peru; since he was a child, Zenobio used to sketch the different mines his father had to visit. His drawings were so exact that Zenobio and his father were accused of spying once. His family later moved to the port of El Callao where Zenobio finished High School. He went on to study mechanical engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, where he developed a reputation for outstanding technical drawings. Word of his talent began to spread and soon enough art exhibitions were calling Zenobio for samples of his work. The desire to earn money initiated him into the art world, but Zenobio quickly developed a mastery of precision with oil drawings. He has participated in dozens of exhibitions, mainly in Peru, and is establishing a market for his paintings in the United States and Canada.
