Rebecca Collins

Rebecca Collins is once of the lucky few who are able to join her greatest passions, art and animals, and turn the result into a career. After earning her BFA at North Texas University, Collins began to pursue a career as an artist. With the onset of the digital age, she and her husband, Dan, established Art Paw where they utilize their decades of experience as artists and self-professed “technophiles” to digitally transform snapshots of people’s pets into true works of fine art.

Using Adobe PhotoShop on her Apple computer, Collins takes a painterly approach to digital art. While many people use digital design programs to “clean up” their photos and snapshots, she and Dan try to bring the natural, imperfect, and occasionally messy aspects of oil paint to the computer. Collins benefits from her experience as a painter, using her stylus to create the layers look of a painting, often applying artistic drips and splatters of “digital paint.” Instead of relying on filters alone, she says, “I strive hard to avoid a computerized look.” Rebecca and Dan Collins succeed in this effort and in creating beautiful fine art for the modern world.
