R.W. Hedge was born in Tyler, Texas in 1954 and moved west as a young man to the Grand Canyon and the Rockies, which would supply a lifetime of artistic inspiration. Hedge was a master of detail, color, and light, and these elements take center stage in his artwork, in which he depicts moments when color and contrast in a scene are at their peak. Hedge was also a fine wildlife painter, depicting animals of the American mountains and plains such as eagles, wolves, buffalo, and deer. Hedge passed away suddenly at his home in Oklahoma in 2010.
