Yakov Tverin was born in a small Ukranian village in 1937. During his bread-winning years, he worked many jobs outside of the arts — cobbler, cook, fisherman, handyman, construction — that would inform his art practice once he began. After he retired, Tverin moved to Israel with his family, and it was there that he first set eyes on the tools he would use to make his creative and quirky canvases. Inspired by the beauty and potential of the paints and tools, Tverin began to paint; first, he created beautiful floral scenes that amazed his wife and children, who had previously been unaware of his talent. Next, Tverin took to the streets of Israel with his beautiful and distinctive original paintings, which were quickly snapped up and praised for their simple originality. Following this immense popularity and success, Tverin moved to North America, where he continues to sell his paintings with great success.
